Yaar looks to disrupt the dairy category with chilled quark bars

Available in three flavours – cloudberry, vanilla and toffee – the bars are coated in either a Belgian milk chocolate, caramel or toffee glaze, and are positioned as an alternative to yogurts, chocolate, cakes and biscuits.

The smooth centre is said to have a thick and creamy taste like yogurt and the texture of cheesecake. The bars are under 140 calories, gluten-free and free from artificial colours, additives or preservatives.

Andrei Garbuz, founder of Yaar, said: “Yaar was launched to disrupt the dairy category by bringing a brand new handheld dairy snack bar to UK consumers.

“With the introduction of the UK’s first quark bars, we are creating a new category and offering spoon-free dairy snacking on-the-go in an accessible, convenient and tasty format.”

Yaar bars are available in vanilla and cloudberry at Sainsbury’s stores and the full range is sold at Whole Foods Market, retailing for £0.99 per bar. Yaar has also secured the backing of investment company Aser.

Garbuz added: “The launch into Sainsbury’s and Whole Foods Market, along with investment from Aser, brings us a step closer to achieving our mission of bringing the delicious goodness of dairy to everyday handheld snacking.”

Yaar was a finalist in the World Food Innovation Awards 2019 in the best snack innovation category.
